About GPL Official
GPL Official is a WordPress publication. We review themes and plugins, test hosting, and write step-by-step tutorials for people who build and run WordPress websites.
We do not host, distribute, sell, or link to any theme, plugin, or software files. This site publishes reviews, comparisons, and tutorials only. If you are looking for downloads, this is not that kind of site.
That statement matters because of our name. “GPL” in GPL Official refers to the GNU General Public License, the license WordPress itself is released under, and the license every WordPress theme and plugin must carry. The name describes what we write about. It is not an offer to supply software.
Who Writes Here
Muhammad Asad, Founder and Editor
I build and maintain WordPress websites, and everything published here comes out of that work.
I have used a large number of themes in real projects, including Avada, GeneratePress, Astra, Kadence, and Newspaper. I have worked with the plugins that go alongside them, from page builders and SEO plugins to caching, image optimisation, forms, and WooCommerce. I have moved sites between hosts, dealt with the slow ones, and learned which problems come from the theme and which come from the server.
When I write about something I have used, I say so and I tell you what actually happened. When I write about something I have researched but not personally run, I say that too. Those are two different things and I do not blur them.
How We Review
Every review on this site follows the same process.
We install it. A theme or plugin gets set up on a real WordPress installation, not judged from its sales page.
We measure what can be measured. Page weight, load time, and Core Web Vitals are numbers, not opinions. Where we publish a figure, we say where it came from.
We say what it costs you. Not just the price, but the page weight it adds, the settings it takes over, and the work involved if you want to leave later.
We name the weak points. Every theme and plugin has them. A review that lists only strengths is an advertisement, and we do not publish advertisements as reviews.
We write “not published” when a figure is not published. We never fill a gap with a guess. If a developer does not publish a benchmark, you will read “not published” rather than a number we made up.
